    Ashley Atkinson, RD, CNSC

    President

     

    Ten years into her HR career, Ashley returned to school for nutrition, completing a B.S. in Human Nutrition and then the Children's Hospital Colorado internship. Ashley worked at UCHealth in Solid Organ Transplant for two and a half years. Today, she is the Lead Clinical Dietitian at Swedish Medical Center, where she covers the cardiothoracic ICU, surgical cardiology unit, and the pediatric ICU. Ashley is a newly-designated CNSC, thanks to the weekly CSPEN study group!

     

    Ashley enjoys visiting playgrounds with her son and rock climbing.

    Zoe Sharplin, RD

    President-Elect

     

    Zoe is a Clinical Account Executive with Amerita Home Infusion. She began her career in the home nutrition support field and thoroughly enjoys helping the patient transition from hospital to home. Zoe is passionate about patient education and continuing to advance her knowledge in nutrition support. Her hobbies are all things Colorado and you can catch her always outside hiking, camping, snowboarding, hanging with her dog or at one of the various farmer’s markets. Zoe has been a part of the CSPEN board since 2022.

    Sarah Funk, RD, CNSC

    Past President

     

    Sarah currently works at University of Colorado Hospital covering the surgical specialties unit and Crohn’s and Colitis Center. She has been involved with CSPEN for about 7 years in a variety of positions. She enjoys gardening and scouting out new breweries in town.

    Katie Geiger MS, RD

    Secretary

     

    My name is Katie Geiger and I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 10 years. Throughout my career I have worked with a variety of patients, from ICU to neuromuscular disease and oncology populations. I spent the last 8 years working as a home infusion RD, helping patients safely transition home on enteral nutrition. I provided bedside or in-home training to patients and families on their respective tube feeding regimens, and continued to provide support and follow up at home. Most recently I started working with brain injury rehab patients. I really enjoy working with clinical teams to help coordinate a safe discharge plan for patients and providing support for their families throughout the process.

    Reem Farra MDS, RD, CNSC, CCTD

    Treasurer

     

    Reem Farra graduated with her Masters and Bachelors in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2017. She has practiced in the clinical adult setting for all of her career covering patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. At University Hospital in San Antonio she covered trauma, transplant, cardiothoracic surgery and their critical care units. In mid 2020, she joined the transplant team outpatient acting as primary on the lung transplant team. She completed her CNSC in 2020 then received her CCTD in 2021. Reem moved to Colorado earlier this year and is now part of the outpatient RD team at Kaiser Permanente. In San Antonio, Reem was active with her local ASPEN chapter (TASPEN) serving as treasurer for 3 years then president elect for 1 year. She’s excited to join CSPEN and continue networking and learning with CO clinicians.

    Jenny Vyduna MS, RDN, CNSC

    Communications Co-Chair

     

    Jenny has been a Registered Dietitian since 2008, and is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Purdue University, completed her Dietetic Internship at Yale, and has a Master’s of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Kansas. As a Nutrition Services Manager at Pentec Health, Jenny enjoys assisting in improving her patients’ lives through nutrition support.

     

    Jenny enjoys hiking and skiing in Colorado's beautiful mountains with her husband, 2 sons, and dog Mollie.

    Jenni Ware, MS, RD, CNSC

    Communications Co-Chair

     

    Jenni is a Florida native, a foodie, an adventurer, and an animal lover! She graduated from the University of Central Florida and received her Master’s from Florida State University. She has also been a certified Clinical Nutrition Support Clinician since 2014. Her experience as a practicing RD for the past 12+ years has been primarily in the inpatient acute care setting with a passion for critical care medicine (and also chocolate + coffee). She made the move out to Colorado late 2021 and has been working for the University of Colorado Hospital specializing in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Nutrition Support.
    When she is not at work, she enjoys most outdoor activities, particularly hiking and rock climbing, exploring new places with her wife, and spending time with her 3 rescue fur-babies (Flash, Oliver, and Harley).

    Julie Geyer, MSA, RD-AP, CNSC

    Membership Chair

     

    Julie graduated from Kansas State University and received her masters from Central Michigan University. She holds an advanced practitioner certification in clinical nutrition and works for the University of Colorado Hospital, specializing in nutrition support and neurological intensive care. She owns a consulting business that specializes in writing menus that meet USDA guidelines for group homes. Julie is past chair of the ASPEN self assessment committee and currently a member of the clinical practice and self assessment committees.

    Vicki Emch, RD

    Vendor Relations

     

    Vicki is currently as the Clinical Director of Epic Medical Solutions and has over 10 years of experience in home care on both the enteral and parenteral side. Before entering the homecare arena she worked on a variety of nutrition support teams in Denver and Seattle. Vicki is has been helping support CSPEN by developing relationships with industry vendors and is an integral part of CE event planning.

    Jennifer Gordon, MS, RD, CNSC

    CNSC Study Group Leader

     

    Jennifer currently works at the University of Utah Hospital covering the surgical ICU while rotating throughout all areas of the hospital. She particularly enjoys improving the care of nutrition support patients transitioning from hospital to home.

    Katie Levin, PharmD, BCPS, BCNSP

    Program Planning Committee

     

    Katie is a clinical pharmacist working at the University of Colorado Hospital. She specializes in internal medicine and nutrition support pharmacy, and takes an active role in precepting future and current pharmacists in these areas. Katie has been a member of ASPEN and CSPEN since 2010, and joined the CSPEN board of directors and program planning committee in 2022. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, and traveling to new places to experience other cultures.

    Jessica Monczka, RD, CNSC

    Program Planning Committee

     

    Jessica has been practicing as a nutrition support dietitian for over 20 years, from NICU to adults and critical care to home infusion. She enjoys continuously learning new things and loves to talk about electrolytes. Jessica is a past-president of CSPEN and has enjoyed serving on the board for 5 years. In addition to volunteering, she enjoys seeing live music, learning new instruments, hiking, camping, running, biking, and exploring all over the west.

    Cami Tynan, MS, RD, CNSC

    Program Planning Commitee

     

    Cami is a Clinical Dietitian at the University Colorado Hospital and specializes in solid organ transplant and nutrition support therapy. She has worked with both pre-transplant and post-transplant liver, kidney, heart, and lung patients for the last 15 years. In her free time she enjoys the trials and rewards of raising a family as well as enjoying what she can of our great outdoors. Cami has served on the CSPEN board since 2010.

    Alix Benear, MS, RD

    Board Member

     

    Alix is a Dietitian Director of Sales at Kate Farms. She has nutrition support experience in both the acute care and home infusion settings. Alix is a past board member of the Colorado Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is also a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In her free time, Alix enjoys skiing, hiking and experimenting with new recipes.

    Victoria Hasenyager, RDN

    Board Member

     

    Victoria is the clinical dietitian/enteral account manager at Preferred Homecare/Lincare. She provides nutrition support to patients throughout Colorado transitioning from the hospital to home setting. She started her career at Everyday Nutrition, LLC, a private practice with a focus on gastrointestinal disorders and continues to consult patients from time-to-time. Victoria is also a past board member of the Colorado Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In her spare time, you can find her outdoors playing tennis, bocce ball, or hiking.
